The Gary Citizens Workers Union is founded as a labor organization registering all the required documents establishing it as a functional union.

As with any union, committed members determine its effectiveness. Just as any union, we will declare what is best for us. Through our declaration we will overcome obstacles hindering our development.

Objective

The Gary Citizens Workers Union (GCWU) is formed to ensure that Gary residents and previous residents forced to relocate for lack of employment are prioritized in all employment opportunities current and future within the city of Gary.

We the silent majority come together to demand that every approved bid, every development project, and every plan involving work of any kind conducted on Gary soil or within the city limits of Gary, Indiana comes through us first and totally exhaust or database of potential employees before hiring a non GCWU member.

Membership Information

Proof of Gary residency or a non-Gary resident that has attended a Gary High school dating back from 1980
Must be of the legal working age
May be a skilled or an unskilled worker
May be currently employed or unemployed
Union dues are not required until employment is secured
Card carrying members are registered on our data base and receive first right of refusal for job opportunities and other benefits throughout the city
Members must keep personal information updated

Long Term Objectives

Establish the GCWU Credit Union (Removing the obstacle of bad credit hindering citizens from home ownership through mortgage opportunities. Also providing access to other loans previously preventing their access to desired and needed merchandise).
Unionize the entire city of Gary, Indiana. (Use politics to lobby the influence of this union insuring that the citizens of Gary are hired first).
Create Chapters of the Gary Citizens Union throughout the country. (A national union will spawn from this union called the Citizens Workers Union. Each local will be an extension of the first placing the name of their city or town behind the name.
